The 21-year-old Wu, an accountant by profession, claims that she was addicted to the Honor of Kings game. On normal days, she spends as long as 8 hours without eating, drinking or even going to toilet on playing the game. However, on October 1, the incident happened when she was playing the game after her dinner. She told Global times “If I don’t work, I usually get up around 6 am, have breakfast, then play until 4 pm” “I would eat something, take a nap, wake up and continue playing until 1 or 2 am. My parents had warned me that I might go blind.” She was immediately taken to the hospital and later diagnosed with Retinal Artery Occlusion which in short known as RAO. According to Medicine Plus, Retinal Artery Occlusion is a medical condition where a blockage occurs in one of the arteries that carry blood to the retina. This type of case mostly occurs in elderly people and might lead to a permanent loss of sight. According to the doctors, pseudonym Wu Xiaojing would have a 20% to 35% chance of seeing again normally. Doctors had also claimed that the “excessive” viewing of the screen is the likely cause of RAO. Dr.David Allamby also thinned few possibilities of RAO “You don’t get RAO from video-related severe eye strain as is suggested here — it’s most commonly evidence of some form of cardiovascular disease, The only potential link — and it’s slim — is that sometimes migraines can be a rare cause of RAO.” So, what do you think about this?
