Getting Tools in A Plague Tale Requiem
Tools are scattered fairly generously throughout the game since they are required to upgrade gear. They can be found in two different types of chests: Secret Chests and Large Chests. Secret Chests are locked and required you to break with knives (pictured above, right), while Large Chests are the golden ones with ornate sheets hanging out of them (pictured above, left) Remember that in the case of Secret Chests, the knives which are used to open them are typically found in heavily guarded areas, as well as within Secret Chests themselves. Since they are so precious, our advice is to always keep them for the purpose of breaking locks rather than killing enemies, especially as they become rarer to find later in the game. Note that in addition to getting new tools to upgrade your gear, you can also work toward acquiring the third upgrade for your Instruments to get an unbreakable Tool, which will permanently make the Tool cost for upgrading to 0.
